Hold on to the thread

The currents will shift

Glide me towards you know something's left

And we're all allowed to dream of the next

Of the next time we touch

You don't have to stray

Though oceans away

Waves roll in my thoughts

Hold tight the ring

The sea will rise

Please stand by the shore

Oh, I will be, I will be there once more

An incredible love song from one of history's

greatest bands, on one of history's greatest albums.

Ten changed me the very first time I heard it.

It literally changed me, my chemistry, how I look

at the world, how I love it, how I love people,

how I look upon my life and the tragedies and victories therein.

How many other albums have done that?

One? Two?

Eddie Vedder is from San Diego,

a city near and dear to my heart.

In this song the group captures so much of the essence

of the place; I almost didn't have to watch

the video to know what was in it.

When I finally did see it for the first time,

it was a simple confirmation

of what I already knew about it.

It was almost anticlimactic.

This is a love song, yes.

But it is also a challenge.

The sea will rise.

Hold tight the ring.

Let's dream of the next.
