(Everything I Do) I Do It for You
Bryan Adams
~~*~~
Look into my eyes
You will see
What you mean to me
Search your heart
Search your soul
And when you find me there
You'll search no more
Don't tell me
It's not worth tryin' for
You can't tell me
It's not worth dyin' for
You know it's true
Everything I do
I do it for you
Look into your heart
You will find
There's nothin' there to hide
Take me as I am
Take my life
I would give it all
I would sacrifice
Don't tell me
It's not worth fightin' for
I can't help it
There's nothin' I want more
You know it's true
Everything I do
I do it for you
There's no love
Like your love
And no other
Could give more love
There's nowhere
Unless you're there
All the time
All the way, yeah
Look into your heart, babe
Oh, you can't tell me
It's not worth tryin' for
I can't help it
There's nothin' I want more
Yeah, I would fight for you
I'd lie for you
Walk the wire for you
Yeah, I'd die for you ...
You know it's true
Everything I do
Oh ...
I do it for you
Everything I do, darling
And we'll see it through
Oh, we'll see it through
Oh yeah
Yeah!
Search your heart
Search your soul
You can't tell me it ain't worth dying for
Oh yeah
I'll be there
I'll walk the wire for you
I will die for you
Oh yeah
All the time
I'm going all the way, all the way, yeah

Bryan Adams isn't exactly known for deep, insightful lyrics,
but if you're a fan of his, like I am,
you're not really looking for those things.
You're looking for that raspy voice, and excellent guitar work,
and backup vocals, and the nostalgia of the 80s,
because Bryan Adams represents the very best of that decade.
I saw him live in 1991, just after this monster hit was released.
His lead guitarist on that tour was Queen's Brian May,
so you can imagine just how good the show was.
Un-frickin'-believable is putting it mildly.
This isn't his best song, in my opinion.
Some of his earlier pieces eclipse this.
But this one got the airplay, mainly because
of its inclusion in the blockbuster release of
Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves,
which featured Kevin Costner as Robin Hood,
who begins the movie with a really awful English accent,
and by the end of it has completely abandoned it.
Pretty funny.
Still, the movie is a goodie, one I own and still watch on occasion.
The radio edit of this hit completely removes the very best part of this song,
which is the last 2 minutes, 16 seconds of it.
Radio edits are evil,
and those who created them
or continue to perform them deserve the Ninth Circle of Hell,
where scientists and engineers working for Big Oil and actively deceiving
the public on behalf of their vile employers are going to end up.
