Paul Hewson really doesn't like the ones--the short, hairless, bleached-white strand of humanity that has chased him relentlessly across time-zones for God knows how long now. They want his Catalyzer, the unique device that more or less helps him control which time-zone he wants to visit--or escape to--and also provides--again, more or less--the means by which he may do so. Despite their heinously advanced technology, those nasty little ones just can't seem to make their own, so they decided to do the next best thing--steal his.

The stakes couldn't be more dangerous. But now they've gotten much more so, because those friggin' ones are coming after those he loves, and that, ladies and gentlemen, just ain't gonna fly.

Author's Notes: This project has the distinction of being the slowest of all of mine. It has been very difficult to write, so much so that I have taken long swaths of time off from it to let it simmer on the back burners of my mind. That said, I have a very basic idea of where it wants to take me; much of my difficulty stems from the science involved in it, particularly that of time, dark matter, and other oddities. I don't write "hard" science fiction: I am easily bored by it. I am far more interested in science fiction that, as with all my other work that isn't science fiction, focuses on the human spirit, friendship, loyalty, family, and the victory of good over evil.

I've got six hard-won chapters for you. More will be coming, as slow as they may be in doing so, but coming they most definitely are.
