Heal me, I'm heartsick

I'm hungry and I'm broken

I'm haunted and weeping

The blood of heaven flowin' like a river tonight

Tears I can't fight on my own

I'm a haunted heathen

I'm hung and barely breathin'

The drownin' ocean, snuff the sun in motion

There's a pill on my tongue, a shot from a gun

The bottle's bottom

I'm lonely as a star

Heal me, I'm heartsick

Hungry, thought I could survive on you

Hear my heartsick hungry cry

I'm heartsick

Father, free me

Mama, woman, feed me

A child of fury, lost his way but don't worry

I won't stop till the dawn

I've been too long on the run

I grow strong and restless as a storm

Heal me, I'm heartsick

Hungry, thought I could survive on you

Hear my heartsick hungry cry

I'm heartsick

Heal me

I'm heartsick

I'm hungry and I'm broken

I'm haunted and weepin'

The blood of heaven flowing like a river tonight

Tears I can't fight on my own

So heal me, I'm heartsick

Hungry, thought I could survive on you

Hear my heartsick hungry cry

I'm heartsick

So heal me, I'm heartsick

I'm hungry, thought I could survive on you

Hear my heartsick hungry cry!

From one of my all-time favorite films

comes this gem, which gets only a minor bit of it played.

Someone was smart and published the entire song,

which doesn't appear on Spotify or Tidal,

but was uploaded to YouTube.

I posted a simple statement regarding its excellence,

one that is now the video's top comment!

The judges in the film picked right.

This was the better song.

My connection to it is also Yaeko's:

for her it isn't a boy she's singing to,

but the despair that nearly consumed her

after a car crash killed everyone she loved

and paralyzed her from the waist down.

Years later, she falls in love for the first time.

The ballad's passion makes for a good sounding board

to their romance, a reflection of a time

where there was no hope of such a thing

ever happening to her.

This song is for you, Yaeko.
